Gentlemen,Recently a cousin of mine gave me a large stash of various model train magazines which belonged to his deceased father. Much of his collection dates from the late 1940s and 50s. I would love to give these to someone(s) who can use them and/or swap for Model Railroaders from 1980 through 1983. I'm also open to secondhand copies of Mainline Modeler.

My local library takes allforms of media and either gives them away or sells them very reasonably.My LHS also takes old hobby magazines and gives them away.And there is always craigslist.Throwing books and magazines in the trash is lazy & foolish. I see no excuse for it.I just read the editor's column in Hemmings' Classic Car magazine where hecomments on having many books & magazines.

He considers this stuff to behistorically important and that he's just saving it for the next guy. That's theway I feel about as well. Indeed the Children's Museum in Oak Ridge might be my next best bet. My own children visted over there about two weeks ago and saw the static displays behind glass the Knoxville MRC has put up. The Children's Museum staff also gave my 6 year old boy an iron-on patch. Sadly, that part of the museum is not really hands-on, unless some club members are present. And that's really what kids need for introducing them to the hobby.
